AN 83-YEAR-OLD man had to be freed from a car by fire crews following a crash in Addingham this afternoon.
The car went on to its side following the collision, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said, with the man left trapped inside.
He was then extricated by fire service personnel and taken to hospital by ambulance.
His condition is not believed to be life-threatening, West Yorkshire Police said.
The crash happened on Addingham Wharfedale Road, shortly after 1.45pm, and also led to the closure of the Ilkley bypass towards Addingham, which was later reopened not long after 5pm.
Fire engines from Silsden and Keighley fire stations attended the scene.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision at 1.47pm today, where it is reported that a car had gone into an embankment.
"An 83-year-old man was inside the vehicle and following assistance from West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, was freed from the vehicle, and taken to hospital.
"His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
"The Ilkley bypass towards Addingham was closed while recovery took place. The road reopened at 5.11pm."
