A PUB has gone viral on social media after it vowed to defy new Government guidance come "Freedom Day".

The Railway Inn pub, in Mobberley, Cheshire, said on Twitter that it would be operating as normal from Monday (July 19), "exactly how a pub should be".

This includes, bar service, no masks and no track and trace, according to the post.

But it comes as the Government has issued stricter than expected guidance for businesses and leisure venues for so-called "Freedom Day" next week, in recent days.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Health Secretary Sajid Javid confirmed on Monday (July 12) that "Freedom Day" would go ahead as planned, despite rising cases of Covid-19 in England.

This will mean the legal restrictions on social distancing, wearing face masks and limits on numbers allowed in venues are all removed.

But they have urged people to remain cautious and the picture has been muddied by guidance released yesterday by the Government.

People will be expected to wear face masks in shops and at work and table service should remain in bars, according to The Times today.

The Times also reported that this has provoked a backlash and left businesses in legal limbo.

It seems the person running The Railway Inn Twitter account is perfectly clear in what their approach will be though.

The viral Tweet, which has received 4,900 likes and 945 retweets so far, was sent in response to a post by "Politics For All", that referenced The Times report and outlined that the Government says from Monday, people should wear masks in shops and at work, it should be table service at pubs and bars, with ordering from an app and track and trace sign-ins should still be utilised.

The Railway Inn post said: "This will not be happening at the Railway, from Monday we operate as normal, bar service, no masks, no track and trace exactly how a pub should be."
