PLANS to improve security at a Bradford church that has been blighted by anti-social behaviour have been approved.

Grade II listed St Oswald's Church on Christopher Street has suffered from vandalism in recent years, as well as anti social behaviour on its grounds.

In May an application was submitted by the church to allow four security cameras to be placed on the1890s building in an effort to deter yobs and safeguard the building.

The application has now been approved by Bradford Council.

The building was designed by local architects FH & F Healy.

The Council's Conservation Officer Jon Ackroyd said that while modern security cameras would appear "discordant" on the listed church building, "any limited visual harm would be balanced by the benefit of affording improved security for the fabric of the building and those visiting."
