Bradford Crown Court was today back up and running after a power cut shut down the building yesterday.
Cases including a murder trial and a Proceeds of Crime confiscation hearing had to be abandoned in the early afternoon because of the failure.
Today, seven of the eight Crown Courts were again busy, with The Honourable Mr Justice Lavender and the Recorder of Bradford, Judge Richard Mansell QC, heading up a team of resident judges and visiting recorders.
Judges have come out of retirement to help reduce the backlog of cases, with lengthy daily lists including bail applications, plea and trial preparation hearings, sentencings, trials and ground rules hearings that are listed ahead of particularly sensitive cases.
