LATEST NEWS: Tributes paid to man named locally as 'Wayne' who was hit and killed by car
POLICE are continuing a murder investigation after a man was knocked down and killed by a car.
A 51-year-old male was hit by a black Mercedes Class A vehicle on Sunday evening, on Indus Close, in Heckmondwike.
West Yorkshire Police was first called to the street at 11.40pm, when the Mercedes pulled up and then the people inside were involved in a dispute with the victim and others.
Minutes later the man was knocked down by the Mercedes and seriously injured, before the car drove off from the scene.
The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but passed away in the early hours of Monday morning.
Police launched a murder investigation yesterday and provided an update today.
A 26-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the investigation yesterday, remains in custody today.
Two women and another man who were also arrested have now all released with no further action taken.
A 35-year-old man arrested in connection with an affray at the location, prior to the collision, still remains in custody.
