A DOG missing on Ilkley Moor for two days has been found alive after volunteers joined a desperate search.

Ilkley businessman, Steven Street, CEO of Cubed Resourcing in Saltaire, was among those who joined the hunt for the dog named Yaz.

Yaz's owner had been celebrating his 80th birthday with his family on Thursday when his beloved dog went missing on the moor.

Locals rallied around to find Yaz, and spent two days searching for the missing pup.

Steve, a dog lover, who had previously joined the search on Friday evening, was determined to locate missing Yaz, and returned to the moor twice on Saturday morning to continue the hunt.

To his absolute joy he found Yaz neck deep in a waterlogged ditch, cold, alone and scared. He initially thought the dog had passed away, but he climbed down into the ditch to pull the dog out, and to his delight, Yaz was whimpering and shivering, but alive.

He carefully pulled Yaz out, covered her body with his coat, and then cuddled the shivering dog to share his heat with her, in a bid to try and revive her energy levels.

Other search volunteers came to assist, and the dog was briefly reunited with her beloved owner, before being taken to the local vets for a much needed check up.
