POLICE caught a vehicle doing more than double the limit on a bypass and also a driver wanted for assault.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Shipley Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) were deployed to Bingley Bypass on Tuesday evening, in response to community concerns.

They dealt with eight people in total for various offences.

One vehicle was caught doing 105mph on the bypass, which has a speed limit of 50mph.

He was reported to court for speeding.

Officers also stopped and arrested a driver who was wanted for common assault.

Another driver was reported and had their car seized due to being disqualified from driving, while one person was given a ticket for not having a seatbelt on.

Finally, police issued four tickets to drivers who were speeding in excess of 50mph.

A spokesperson for Shipley NPT said: "We are aware there are concerns about various locations across the Shipley constituency about speeding and anti-social driving.

"We will continue to deploy to address these concerns where district demand allows and work with partner agencies to address these issues long term."
