Historic rail nameplates have been put up for auction
LONDON North Eastern Railway (LNER) is offering enthusiasts the opportunity to own a piece of railway history by auctioning some of its historic nameplates for charity.
43274 Spirit of Sunderland, 43208 Lincolnshire Echo and 43257 Bounds Green will go under the hammer in an online auction on July 24.
Proceeds from the sale of plates from the iconic LNER InterCity High-Speed Train (HST) fleet, which was retired in 2019, will go to LNER’s partner charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
Nameplates from one side of the power cars raised nearly £10,000 and now enthusiasts can bid for the three remaining plates in a one-off sale. For more information about the auction visit gwra.co.uk
