A jury has been sworn in to try a man accused of murder and attempted murder almost 20 years ago.

Ricardo Linton, 45, of no fixed address, pleads not guilty to murdering Bradford taxi driver Mohammed Basharat on October 20, 2001, and attempting to murder Jamshad Khan on the same date.

Today, the jury was sworn in at Bradford Crown Court with two more people acting as “reserves” until the case is opened tomorrow by prosecuting barrister Richard Wright QC.

The trial in front of Mr Justice Lavender is expected to last up to five weeks.

The jurors were sent home late this morning to re-attend at 10.30am tomorrow.
