She spent a gruelling nine months on dialysis before receiving her transplant.

"Having my kidney transplant was an incredible gift and has changed my life however this isn’t a cure, there is no cure," she said.

"Around 5,000 people are on the waiting list for a kidney transplant to save their life. Three million people in the UK are estimated to have kidney disease and around one million of these people don’t know they have it."

Rehana added: "My whole life has changed since my transplant, I am active and healthy but most of all I am happy in my work environment as I have a very supportive manager, Ayaz Ahmed, who is very understanding towards my health needs.

"I also would like to thank my supportive family and friends for being there for me on this journey.

"I hope sharing my story will promote how important it is to be an organ donor and how it can change someone’s life.

"I am now an ambassador for Kidney Research UK and I also work with the Bradford renal team to raise awareness.

"Dr Stoves, my renal consultant and the team are always here for me and just a phone call away.

"Here I am today feeling so proud of raising the total of £500 for Kidney Research UK. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the charity which will make big difference to fund lifesaving research."
