A WOMAN suffered back and head injuries after falling 40 foot while walking in Otley Chevin Country Park.
Members from Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT) were the first on the scene and provided first aid to the woman while waiting for other emergency services.
Soon after, crews from Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Hazardous Area Response Team arrived and further medical care and pain relief was provided.
Following the arrival of the remaining CVSRT members and team vehicles the casualty was placed in an immobilising and protective vacuum mattress, transferred onto a stretcher and carried out through the to the road and the waiting ambulance.
The incident happened at 10.54am on Saturday, June 26. Fourteen members of the CVSRT attended the incident which lasted two hours and 12 minutes.
Friends of the woman have now set up a justgiving page to help her while she is unable to work. It has raised over £800.
The page says: "Donna Rahilly has unfortunately had quite a bad accident falling from a cliff at Otley Chevin this Saturday (26/06/21). Donna is made of tough stuff but has suffered quite significant injuries including: fractured vertebrae in her neck and back, broken ribs, a fractured eye socket and internal bleeding. As you can imagine she will be unable to work for quite a while and as a self employed businesswoman she will not receive any sick pay. We all wish her a speedy recovery. Please consider donating a few quid to this cause to help her out as she makes her recovery. Thankyou."
Donations can be made on the justgiving page.
