A BRADFORD TV doctor has called for NHS workers to get the ‘pay rise they deserve’ as it marks its 73rd birthday today.
Dr Amir Khan, who regularly appears on daytime shows Good Morning Britain and Lorraine, launched a passionate plea for better working conditions and a pay rise for staff.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the NHS at a service of thanksgiving today before hosting a tea at Buckingham Palace.
The service at St Paul's Cathedral will celebrate the NHS's contribution to the country during Covid-19, reflecting on the work and achievement of health staff, volunteers and carers.
Dr Amir tweeted today: “Happy 73rd Birthday NHS, an organisation I’ve worked in for the last 17 years.
“I love the NHS and all it stands for “A Great birthday gift would be to: Fund it properly, Improve working conditions for staff, Give NHS workers the chuffing pay rise they deserve.”
