A TELECOMS firm has been told it does not been prior approval before installing a new 5G mast in Baildon.

WHP Telecoms applied to the Council on behalf of Three and EE for prior approval to install the mast in Otley Road in Temple Rhydding, Baildon.

The 20 metre monopole, with a wraparound cabinet and other associated work, would be based on the footpath outside the Hemingway Carpets factory, near the railway bridge.

One objection was received, saying that when maintenance is carried out on the mast the footpath would be fully blocked, but Bradford Council said that is not a consideration in this proposal.

In green lighting the plans, the council said: “The proposal is considered to be appropriately sited and would not be harmful to the appearance of the area.

“The prior approval of the Local Authority with regard to siting and appearance is therefore not required.”

The Council said that therefore the development can begin.

It will provide 5G coverage to the population of Baildon, giving residents the best and fastest possible internet connectivity.

It’s the latest 5G mast to be approved in the district as the 5G rollout continues in the UK.
