WILL Gareth Southgate's team make up for 25 years of hurt when England take on Germany at Wembley?

Euro 2021 excitement is reaching fever pitch as Tuesday's round-of-16 tie approaches.

Fans - and no doubt Southgate himself - will be hoping for victory this time after Germany booted England out of Euro 96 in that nail-biting semi-final penalty shoot-out. It was of course Gareth Southgate who missed that crucial penalty and shattered a nation's dream of reaching the final.

England and Germany have a long and eventful football history, from the 1966 World Cup dream final to Italia 90 when West Germany knocked England out of that heartbreaking semi-final.

Here we take a look back to the 1990 World Cup when fans packed in to Bradford's Lord Clyde pub to watch that fateful match.

There were cheers and tears, then the party was over. But it was good while it lasted.

So will it be tears of joy or despair when England take on Germany at 5pm in four days' time?

Let us know what you think - and share your memories of watching England V Germany in the past.

Were you at the games in 1990, 1996 - or 1966?

Or are you a divided household - half German, half English? We'd love to hear from you.
