POLICE have arrested a man in connection with a reported assault where an officer had his throat sliced.
Cleveland Police said on Twitter yesterday afternoon that they had detained a 30-year-old man in relation to a violent incident involving one of their officers.
The male officer spotted an alleged drug deal taking place on Athol Street, in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, at around 8.30pm on Saturday (June 19) and went to intervene.
He was attempting to make an arrest when the officer said he was punched to the ground and pinned down by two men.
He said the man who punched him then held a knife to his throat and cut it while making threats to the officer.
Three men are believed to have been involved in total and police issued an appeal to find one of those individuals on Sunday, followed up by a further appeal on Tuesday.
Officers arrested a 30-year-old man on Wednesday and he was in police custody yesterday.
