THESE are the holiday destinations which could be added to the UK’s travel green list today.

The Government is set to announce changes, if any, to its travel lists later today, with some popular holiday spots in Europe reportedly set to be added to the green list.

Being on the green list means that while holidaymakers will have to provide a negative test to get back into the UK, they will not have to go into quarantine upon arrival.

For amber list countries, a 10 day quarantine period at home is required, which could be halved with a further negative test after five days, while people coming back from red list countries must go into hotel quarantine.

Currently on the green list are Australia, Brunei, the Falkland Islands, the Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Iceland, Israel and Jerusalem, New Zealand, Singapore, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, and St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha.

You also don't need to take a Covid-19 test or quarantine when arriving back in England if you're coming back from other parts of the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, or the Republic of Ireland.

It has been reported that in today’s review, Malta and the Balearic Islands – including Ibiza, Majorca and Menorca – and Madeira could be added to the green list as part of a “handful” of destinations being considered.

Both Malta and Spain, including its islands, are currently on the amber list. Portugal was on the green list but was moved to amber at the last review.

There are also concerns that Israel could be moved to the amber list after a surge in cases of the Delta variant there.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said earlier this week that the Government is “working on” plans to allow quarantine-free travel for fully vaccinated Britons returning from amber locations.

Asked about the prospect of restrictions being eased in the review, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: “Of course I very much hope the world could open up.

“We’ve got to follow the data, and that’s what we’ll be doing in the meetings over the next few days.”
