TWO police officers were left with "significant" injuries after a van, believed to be stolen, crashed into their vehicle. 

Police are now appealing for information about the incident.

At around 3.35am yesterday, officers were travelling along Lees Lane, Haworth, when a van was seen driving suspiciously.  

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Between Lees Lane and Main Street, the van collided with the marked police vehicle leaving two officers injured.

"The officers suffered significant but not life-threatening injuries and have now been discharged from hospital.

"The van, which is now believed to be stolen was recovered by officers a short time later.

"Officers are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around the time stated above or that may have CCTV or dashcam footage of a van that may assist with enquiries.

"Anyone with information that may assist with enquiries is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 167 of 22/6.

"Information can also be given to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
