POLICE in North Yorkshire who were searching for a missing 78-year-old man have found a body in the River Ouse.
The man, who was from York, had been the subject of an earlier missing person's appeal.
His family have been informed and are now being supported by officers.
North Yorkshire Police said: "Officers searching for the 78-year-old missing man from York, have sadly discovered a body in the River Ouse.
"The family of the man have been informed and are being supported by officers.
"We ask that the privacy of the family is respected at this extremely difficult time."
