CREWS were called to the site of a former power station in the early hours of this morning after a "large quantity" of "unknown chemicals" caught fire.
Five fire engines and one aerial appliance were in attendance on Knowsthorpe Lane, close to the site of the former Skelton Grange Power Station, near Cross Green, Leeds.
The fire happened at 2.33am this morning, according to West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, with a spokesperson from Hunslet Fire Station adding that "quite a lot of resources" were sent to battle the blaze.
West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Crews [were] dealing with a large quantity of unknown chemicals on fire adjacent to a building.
"Five appliances and one aerial [were] in operation to deal with fire.
"Further update to follow."
West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service has been contacted for further comment.
