SIR - Your article about the murals in the Harden pub (T&A June 14) reminded me of the much missed Lemon Tree in Bradford Moor.
It was a Sikh pub and also very popular with white people and young Muslim men who would come in the back door to avoid their mothers seeing them. Great tales from Indian history were told by the older regulars in return for a pint.
The internal walls were covered in colourful painted Punjabi country scenes; Indian maidens ploughing with buffaloes, threshing wheat and carrying water.
