BRADFORD Pride Day will make its return to the city on Saturday with a special hybrid event available both online and in-person.

Many Bradford Pride favourites will appear in this sold out celebration of the district’s LGBTQ+ culture - which had to be held online last year due to the Covid 19 Pandemic.

This year’s Pride will feature a host of fabulous entertainers, comedy, and tribute acts all coming together for a memorable day of fun, music and laughter.

The annual celebration is one of the largest events in the city centre, attracting thousands of people each year.

This year’s Covid-safe live event is now sold out but will be available to watch live from your own home.

It features performances by acts such as Dragalicious, DJ Debbie B, Rubbber Kazoo and Thee House of Blaque.

The live stream can be watched on the Bradford Pride YouTube channel in a broadcast that will be begin at 2pm on Saturday last until 11:30pm; with everything coming from the live event happening at city centre venue the Underground.

Leon Fleming, Chair of the Pride Committee, said: “Last year’s virtual Pride proved to be a great success and we were able to learn a lot of lessons from hosting it this way.

Bradford Pride returns with month of events to celebrate LGBTQ+ community

“With the on-going Covid-19 restrictions, we’re still not able to host a full-scale Bradford Pride, however, with the ability to livestream Saturday’s event we hope we can still reach everyone who would have otherwise attended in person.

“A huge thank you once again to Bradford Council for their on-going support of Bradford Pride and to all of our sponsors including Morrisons, the Yorkshire Building Society, Bradford BID, Candy, TheUnderground and also that TheMill.TV who providing the broadcasting for the event.”

Councillor Richard Dunbar, LGBTQ+ champion for Bradford Council, said: “Bradford Pride Day is the biggest event in our LGBTQ+ calendar and I’m delighted that we’ll be able to broadcast it for those people who won’t be able to attend.

“Bradford has a growing reputation as one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly places in the UK and our Pride event is a celebration of the best of our ever-growing and diverse community.

“It’s a showcase of music, art and comedy but is also about empowerment, education and campaigning against the injustices which are still unfortunately felt by many on a daily basis.

“A major part of Pride is in supporting out local artists, and this is especially vital after the challenges of the last 18 months. Arts and culture are not only part of the fabric of Pride and LGBTQ+ culture but also for Bradford District itself. Events like Pride Day are one of the reasons we can be so confident in our bid to be UK City of Culture in 2025.”

Headline Pride Partner Morrisons, said: “We’re passionate about making good things happen for Bradford and the LGBT+ community, and we’re honoured to be part of this great event. On behalf of everyone here at Morrisons, Happy Pride”
