A MAN has been arrested in connection to the horror smash this morning in Pudsey which has left a barber shop destroyed.

The man was found this morning with serious injuries at a property in Pudsey and subsequently arrested for drink driving, failing to stop and assaulting police officers.

Philip Nicholas Barber Shop in Bradford Road, Pudsey has been destroyed and will be closed "for the foreseeable future" following the crash which happened in the early hours of today.

A black Audi A4 careered through the front of the shop following a police chase, causing the building to need reinforcing due to the impact of the collision.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 2.29am this morning, police patrol sighted a black Audi A4 on Richardshaw Lane, Stanningley.

"The vehicle failed to stop for police and was then involved in a collision with a business premises on Bradford Road. The driver left the scene.

"At around 5.40am officers attended an address in Pudsey and a man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, failing to stop and assault of police officers.

"The man was taken to hospital, where he was found to have serious injuries and is continuing to receive treatment.

"A scene remains in place today on Bradford Road."
