BRADFORD Libraries will be going live with a new upgraded Library Management System, Symphony, next Thursday.

The system will provide the library catalogue, stock circulation, and feature easy to use features for library customers.

‘Enterprise’ is the new Online Public Access Catalogue where library customers can search for books, reserve or ‘hold’ items, check their own accounts and renew items.

In addition, the new library catalogue has a translate feature provided by Google Translate. This free service instantly translates words between English and over 100 other languages.

Library customers can continue to use the same library card. All loan periods will remain the same and people will be able to borrow up to 20 books in addition to E-Books and E-Audio books.

As the Service changes over to the new upgraded system, there may be some slight temporary disruption to services.

This transition period will start from Monday when libraries will be working offline. On Thursday, June 24, the new system will be live.

During this time there will be some limited services and customers may find that the service and enquiries may be slower than normal. Bradford Libraries has apologised in advance for any inconvenience which may be caused.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council's Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: "We are looking forward to introducing our library customers to the new improved online catalogue system which will hopefully enhance their experience when using the library."
