KEEN cyclist Gareth Barber has his sights on two cycling events to raise money for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) charity.

Gareth, who is originally from Bradford and now lives in Harrogate, will take part in the Coast to Coast in a Day event on Saturday, June 26, a route from Seascale to Whitby totalling 150 miles with 4500m of ascent.

Gareth will also participate in the Tour of the Highlands event in Scotland from Friday, September 3, to Sunday, September 5, and covers 300 miles in total.

Gareth decided to help the charity after witnessing a small team of YAS staff try to save his father who had suffered a large pulmonary embolism. He said the crew responded quickly, worked hard and showed commitment and professionalism. To donate, visit uk.virginmoneygiving.com/GRBarber
