HERE are dramatic pictures of the solar eclipse in Bradford today.

The solar eclipse has given stargazers a treat today for the first time since 2015.

The annular (ring-shaped) eclipse occurred this morning, when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, blocking out its light.

In Bradford, the partial solar eclipse began at 10.08am today and the maximum eclipse took place at around 11.15am and the eclipse event finished at about 12.30pm.

In different parts of Europe, different proportions of the Sun have been blocked out depending on how northern each city and country is; for example in Iceland 60 per cent of the Sun will be obscured, but in much of southern and eastern Europe less than 10 per cent of the Sun will be blocked.

In the UK, between 18 and 40 per cent of the Sun will be obscured by the Moon.

Today’s cloudy conditions may have affected views of the eclipse, but here are a few pictures taken between 11.15am and 11.30am in City Park today:
