A WOMAN was freed by fire service personnel after being trapped in a car following a two-car crash in Dewsbury this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 7.49am of the two-car collision on Smithy Brook Lane, Thornhill, Dewsbury.

The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted: "On arrival of fire service, one female was trapped. The casualty was released by fire service personnel and then transported to hospital by ambulance.

"A further male casualty was out of vehicle on arrival of fire service and was also tended to by ambulance crews.

Two pumps from Dewsbury attended.
