A PROLIFIC shoplifter has been jailed for a total of 20 weeks for stealing a host of items from district stores.
Lewis Heckles, 23, of Bingley Road, Keighley, was jailed for a number of theft offences.
The first offence saw him jailed for five weeks and ordered to pay £28.50 compensation for stealing eight jars of coffee worth £28.50 from Poundland at the Airedale Shopping Centre, Keighley on May 26, 2021.
The second offence saw Heckles jailed for five weeks and ordered to pay £30 compensation for stealing chocolate bars worth £30 from Farmfoods at Airedale Shopping Centre, Keighley, on May 25, 2021.
In his third charge, Heckles was jailed for five weeks and ordered to pay £35 compensation for stealing six jars of coffee worth £35 from Farmfoods at Airedale Shopping Centre, Keighley, on May 21, 2021.
In his fourth charge, Heckles was sentenced to five weeks in prison and ordered to pay £16.50 compensation for stealing three jars of coffee worth £16.50 from Farmfoods at Airedale Shopping Centre, Keighley, on May 13, 2021. All sentences will run consecutively.
Heckles pleaded guilty to all four offences and was sentenced at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on May 31, 2021.
He was jailed as the offences were so serious because he was described as a prolific shoplifter, who was recently released from custodial sentence.
