THE finalists for this year’s British Takeaway Awards have been revealed, and with one chain with a Bradford outlet in the running for an award.

The annual prize-giving ceremony celebrates the best takeaway outlets across the country serving up all kinds of cuisines and dishes.

There are 12 regional awards and one prize for the best chain of takeaway restaurants.

In the Yorkshire category there were no nominations forthcoming for any of Bradford’s more than 750 takeaway businesses, but one business with an outlet in the city made the shortlist for best restaurant chain.

Jungle Grill, which has a site in Oak Lane, Manningham, is up for the award. The steak house also has restaurants in Manchester, Rochdale, Stockport, London, Liverpool and Copenhagen.

It serves up a range of beef and chicken steaks, grilled chicken and chops, burgers and wraps for hungry customers, along with a large range of milkshakes and desserts.

It’s up against Churchill’s Fish & Chips, Nuudle Bar, Treatz and Caprino’s for the award.

In the Yorkshire category, every Bradford business failed to make the final five; the nominees for this prize are Bear Kitchen in Wakefield, Hirds Family Fisheries in Halifax, Ripponden’s Elliot’s Craft Pizza & Grill, Tavassoli’s Café, Bar and Grill in Leeds, and Sheffield’s Sakushi Japanese.

Run in association with Just Eat, the British Takeaway Awards champion an industry that brings in £12.5 billion to the UK economy every year.

The winners of regional awards get a trophy, £1,000 cash and £200 to spend on Just Eat, while for the chain award the cash prize rises to £5,000.

There also two other awards, for Good Deed Hero and Best Takeaway Chef in Britain.

All entrants must have a Food Standards Agency rating of four or above, ruling out more than 300 takeaways in Bradford district from the awards.

The awards ceremony will take place on September 6.
