A TRAVEL show which featured a Saltaire man has missed out on winning a TV Bafta.

Emon, of Saltaire, and his nephew Jamiul Choudhury were crowned winners of BBC Two travel challenge show Race Across The World that gripped the nation at the start of the first lockdown last year.

They travelled 15,000 miles from Mexico City to Ushuaia in Argentina, the world's most southerly city, without flights, phones, the internet or bank cards.

Race Across The World missed out on winning the TV Bafta for Reality & Constructed Factual category at last night’s ceremony, screened on BBC One.

The prize was won by The School That Tried To End Racism. Other contenders were Masterchef: The Professionals and The Write Offs.

Emon, of Saltaire, says appearing on the programme has changed his outlook on life.
