FIRE fighters tackled a blaze in Burton-in-Lonsdale, near Bentham, last night (Thursday) in a building containing a hot-tub.

When they arrived, they found the fire had spread to a near-by building and several trees.

Firefighters also used water from a nearby stream to control the blaze and will return this morning to check for 'hot-spots'.

Crews from Bentham, Hornby, Kirkby Lonsdale and Settle attended the fire which was reported at about 8.45pm.

A spokesperson for Bentham Fire Station said: "Bentham along with Hornby from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised to reports of a building fire containing a hot tub.

"On arrival we found the fire had spread to a near by building and several trees.

"Extra appliances were requested from Kirkby Lonsdale from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and Settle Fire Station.

"We used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, three by 45 mm main jets to control and extinguish the fire. "

Crews also used water from a nearby stream and had to dismantle what remained of the building to stop any hidden fire.

The spokesperson added : "It was a a fantastic effort by all crews that attended."

Skipton Fire Station was brought in to relieve the crews .
