A STOLEN van with cloned number plates contained four road rollers.

PC Claire Gray - a Roads Policing Officer with West Yorkshire Police - said on Twitter that police stopped a white van in the Mirfield area on Wednesday as it was suspected its number plates had been cloned.

This often means a vehicle user will use the identity of another vehicle, by either stealing or duplicating their registration plates.

A check showed the van's true identity - it had been stolen.

Officers also discovered four road rollers inside the van and paperwork relating to them.

These are suspected to have been stolen too.

Police arrested one person and recovered the van and the rollers.

This involved West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit (RPU) and Firearms Unit working together.

PC Gray said: "Yesterday we stopped the white van as it was suspected cloned.

"The van's true identity was a stolen one and in the van was paperwork relating to the road rollers also suspected as stolen.

"One in custody and all vehicles recovered.

"Teamwork with RPU and Firearms."
