A LICENSING Committee will decide whether to allow a Bradford off licence to sell alcohol until 3am at a meeting next week.

Harvey's on Smiddles Lane currently has a licence to sell alcohol until 11pm.

A licensing application has been submitted to Bradford Council by Rahim Ahmady to extend these hours until 3am.

The Authority's Bradford Licensing Panel will discuss the application at a meeting on Tuesday 8th June.

A report to the panel includes a letter from the Environmental Health department urging members to refuse the application.

The off licence is at the end of a row of terraced houses, and officers fear a later licence could lead to "noise nuisance complaints."

The letter says: "The current hours of use are until 11pm and any extension into the night time is likely to generate noise nuisance complaints to this Service from the coming and going of customers using the shop at such a late hour.

"Noises such as slamming car doors, car engines, music in cars, customer’s voices are all noises that are more noticeable in the night time and are also difficult to control using our legislation.

"I would recommend that this application for variation to the hours of use is refused in the interests of protecting amenity of local residents living next to the shop premises."

The panel meets at 3pm on Tuesday June 8.
