A HUGE emergency presence came to the rescue of a man who suffered serious injuries after getting trapped in a digger in Bradford.

The incident is understood to have taken place at around 5.30pm yesterday evening at the Gleason homes development site on Northside Road, off Ingleby Road.

The male's leg was stuck and he was seven foot in the air at the time of rescue.

The emergency call came into Yorkshire Ambulance Service at 5.51pm.

Two ambulances, a clinical supervisor and a hazardous area response team were dispatched.

The patient was then conveyed to hospital.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police were called by fire service to reports of a concern for safety off Ingleby Road, Bradford.

"Officers attended and found a man had been involved in an industrial accident and had suffered serious injuries.

"The Health and Safety Executive have been informed."
