THE DRIVER of a van carrying a 4x4 that was 25 per cent over the weight limit is set to receive a heavy fine.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Steerside Enforcement Team - the force's dedicated initiative for tackling dangerous and anti-social driving - stopped a white dropside van in the Bradford South area on Friday morning after discovering an obvious issue with the load it was carrying.
In the trailer part of the van, there was a silver Mitsubishi 4x4, which was just inches away from the edge of the vehicle.
Police discovered that the load was, as expected, overweight at 4,380kg - which is 25 per cent over the limit.
The driver was reported and is set to receive a "heavy fine".
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Officers on Operation Steerside didn’t have to look too hard to identify what was wrong with this vehicle in Bradford South.
"Overweight at 4380kg (25 per cent overweight).
"Driver reported and heavy fine expected."
