TWO people were arrested after a police chase where a car went through a red light "at speed", crossed two lines of traffic and then flipped onto its side.

West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit (RPU) asked a blue Toyota Yaris to pull over in the Girlington area of Bradford yesterday afternoon, at around 4.20pm.

The Yaris made off from police though and a chase began.

It ended when the Yaris ran a red light "at speed" on Ingleby Road, near Lidl, at the road's junction with Duncombe Road.

The car went across two lines of crossing traffic and ended up flipping onto its side.

Debris was littered across the road and the vehicle was badly damaged.

Police arrested the two people in the car and discovered neither had a driving licence.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Both occupants arrested from this Yaris that made off from Police in Girlington and crashed Ingleby Road yesterday.

"Driving through a red light at speed across two lines of crossing traffic didn’t work out very well.

"Unsurprisingly neither occupant had a licence."
