LATEST NEWS: Investigation into ferocious fire that gutted mill concludes - here's the outcome
A ROAD is still closed three days after a ferocious fire gutted an old mill building.
The blaze took hold in a large, three-story warehouse just off Legrams Lane in Bradford at around 2.45am on Wednesday morning.
Crews from multiple fire stations rushed to the scene, with more than 100 firefighters and specialist officers tackling the flames at its height.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) District Commander for Bradford, Benjy Bush, said on Wednesday that crews had focused on protecting the surrounding properties and businesses that are adjoined to the warehouse.
The blaze caused significant damage to all three floors and the building itself, but Mr Bush praised firefighters for managing to stop it spreading.
Bradford-based demolition firm, Thomas Crompton, was called in on Thursday night to help dampen down the fire and assist with the clean up process, by using a large excavator.
Woodhead Road, which is just behind the mill, is still closed both ways due to the fire.
It is shut between its junctions with Shearbridge Road and Cottam Terrace.
