YORKSHIRE Building Society has been crowned double winners at the National Centre for Diversity FREDIE Awards 2021.

The Bradford-based mutual won the Large Business of the Year 2021 and Financial Services Company of the Year 2021 awards.

The Society also celebrated being ranked 11th in the Top 100 Most Inclusive Workplaces Index 2021 moving up 46 places from 2020 in the annual index.

The FREDIE awards and the Top 100 Most Inclusive Workplaces Index covers the UK’s private, public and third sectors, employing thousands of people across the country, celebrates the contributions of the most committed people and organisations which promote Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement.

Tracey Newton, director of colleague experience at Yorkshire Building Society, said: “It was of course a real honour to win these awards, and recognises the work we have already undertaken in embracing diversity and inclusion within our organisation in the last 12 months.

“I believe though that we are only at the beginning of our inclusion journey at Yorkshire Building Society and that there is more to do and we will keep at it as we are capable of being even better in this space.”

It is the latest awards victory for Yorkshire Building Society. It was crowned High Street Provider of the Year for both mortgages and savings, after consumers at the 2021 Moneyfacts Consumer Awards, held in January.

Yorkshire took the top awards in the two categories at the annual event, which aims to give the UK’s millions of customers a chance to reflect how they feel about the products available to them.
