A BRADFORD company which offers Covid-19 travel tests has been inundated with complaints.

Expert Medicals, based on New John Street in the city centre, is listed on the Government’s website as a provider of the Covid tests people must carry out before arriving in England.

But unsatisfied customers have taken to review site Trustpilot to raise major concerns about the way it is operating. Out of 127 reviews, 94 per cent of those have rated the service as ‘bad’.

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) said the Government does not “endorse or recommend” any particular test provider, but monitors all issues and takes action where appropriate, including removing providers from the list.

At the time of writing, Expert Medicals still appeared on the Government website.
A review left on May 12 said: “This company is a joke! I have ordered my 2 and 8 day test kits.

“My quarantine it was supposed to finish 2 days ago and because I haven’t received the results from them I stuck inside the house waiting. Phone line never answer and they don’t reply on the emails either. The online chat is not helpful at all as well they don’t answer your questions.”

Another left on the same day urged people to “stay away” from the company.

One review left on May 10 said: “Avoid this company. No customer service. Nobody answers the phone calls. They took my money quickly but after few days still no tests, so I had to chase them to send me my tests. After that, no results for ages. Had to chase them constantly. Luckily I was at home on quarantine so had plenty of time.”

They said they eventually got their results after “a long time” – but with the wrong name on both of them.

On May 4, another person wrote: “I ordered and paid for a test that has never arrived.”

Another on April 25 said: “We had a terrible experience. I wouldn’t even give this company 1 star. We received Day 2 test and returned it but never got results. Day 8 test was sent with Day 2 but no return box or envelope or Royal Mail tracking free post so no way to return it. We had to pay MORE money from another company to get a Day 8 test. They didn’t respond to any emails or phone calls.”
Many other reviews have been left with similar complaints.

The Telegraph & Argus contacted Expert Medicals on the landline number advertised on the front of the building - 01274 397650 - at 11.50am on Wednesday and was told to send an email.

An email asking for a comment in response to the concerns was sent just after noon, but no response was received. A call was then made to the mobile number listed on the front of the building - 07472 472 477 - at 11.34am yesterday. A male, who did not give his name, said a comment would not be made and ended the call.

A DHSC spokesperson said: “The Government does not endorse or recommend any particular test provider for quarantine test packages and we carefully monitor all issues raised by the public about travel test providers and take action wherever appropriate, including removing providers from the list.

"Tests and providers are both rigorously reviewed by the independent United Kingdom Accreditation Service and the list of private travel test suppliers is continually updated to ensure that the providers listed meet the required standards.”
