A 21-YEAR-old man is to go on trial charged with breaching coronavirus self-isolation rules and assaulting two police officers.
Mohammed Junaid, of Trueman Avenue, Heckmondwike, also faces charges of using threatening behaviour, all relating to an incident at Eastern Delight Indian Takeaway, Cemetery Road, Heckmondwike, on the same date.
Junaid denies all four charges and a trial is set to take place at Leeds Magistrates' Court on November 10 later this year.
The case was last before the court on May 14, when it was adjourned until the trial date.
The incident itself took place on April 3, 2020, within the first weeks of the first national lockdown.
The Coronavirus Act allegations relate to a failure to comply with a direction to remain at the defendant's home address.
That particular section of the act hands powers to the police in connection with potentially infectious people.
