SIR - I refer to the article in the T&A dated May 19 by Imran Hussain MP headed 'New hospital is vital for Bradford'.
Many years ago, Sir John Harvey Jones produced a documentary which went out on national T.V. He looked at the two main hospitals in Bradford, Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) and St. Lukes.
BRI was given a good report, but when he went to St. Lukes, his first comment was "What a dump!" Not much has changed.
The answer for a new hospital in Bradford is to demolish St. Lukes, except the Horton Wing, rebuild on the site and move forward. Many years of planning, work and much expense, but the site is there.
