THESE are the five people who have appeared in court in Bradford charged with the most serious drink driving offences over the past month.

Of the five, three have admitted their crimes of driving at three times the drink-drive limit or more, with the outcome of a further two yet to be heard.

All five were charged with driving while the level of alcohol in their system was at least three times over the legal limit and called before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court

Of the four who have pleaded guilty, the most serious case was that of Jonathan Adam, who appeared in court on April 20.

Adam, 42, of Minnie Street, Haworth, was pulled over in Station Road, Haworth, on August 13, 2020, where he was found to have 123 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath – more than triple the legal limit of 35mg.

Adam has been granted unconditional bail and is next due in court on June 7 to be sentenced, and in the meantime has been handed an interim driving ban.

Next in severity was Otis Brown, of South Road, Cullingworth, who was caught drink driving while committing a raft of offences.

Brown, 28, blew 105mg in 100ml of breath, triple the legal limit, when pulled over while driving an Audi Q5 in Haworth Road on March 23.

In court on April 23, he also pleaded guilty to criminal damage when he damaged a glass cabinet, lamp and wine glass causing £280 worth of damage, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, assault by beating, and aggravated vehicle taking in Ash Mount, Keighley, when he took the Audi, and also causing damage to the vehicle.

Brown was jailed for a total of 26 weeks, banned from driving for 45 months, and banned from entering Ash Mount for the next three years.

Also admitting to being three times over the limit was Joshua Kelly, who was in court on April 26.

Kelly, 26, of Busfield Street, East Bowling, was caught drink driving in Bowling Hall Road, West Bowling on November 13, 2020, when he blew 105mg in 100ml of breath.

After pleading guilty, Kelly was handed a community order to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months, pay a surcharge of £95 and costs of £85, and disqualified from driving for 23 months.

Also due in court on April 26 was Sarah Brown, 48, of Midgley Road, Burley-in-Wharfedale, who allegedly was more than four-and-a-half times over the drink drive limit when she was stopped on December 1, 2020.

It’s alleged during the stop, at Orchard Petrol Station in Bradford Road, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Brown blew 161mg in 100ml of breath. Her case has been moved to May 26 and she is on unconditional bail.

Due in court on May 14 was Andrew Blundell, 31, of Chapel House Inn, Park House Road, Low Moor, on drink driving and drugs possession charges.

It’s alleged on August 23, 2020, Blundell was stopped in Stadium Road, Odsal, and a blood test revealed he had 253mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood, more than three times the legal limit of 80mg.

It’s also said that at the same time Blundell had in his possession one bag of cocaine, and two bags with cocaine residue in them. The outcome of his hearing is currently not available.
