INDOOR leisure is back and one director has been delighted at the reaction his venue has received.

Jeff Taylor, of Go Bowling in Shipley, says him and his team have been rushed off their feet since opening for the first time in 2021 yesterday.

He said: "We had people queuing out of the door at 9am on Monday wanting to get in.

"When the league finished at 12, we had people waiting to jump on straight away.

"A lot of people have come in to practice who haven’t played for eight or nine months. There is a real appetite for it.

"The centre was at full Covid restricted capacity. We expect that to continue throughout the week."

Restrictions, such as you can only eat and drink when you are sitting down at the tables, a fogging machine has to be used nightly to clean the balls, and screens between alleys still remain.

The only part of the business not in operation is the hosting of kids parties due to the risk of a large gathering forming.

But all that has not tainted Jeff's delight and he wanted to thank those who have helped the centre over the past year or so.

He added: "We will be at restricted capacity until at least June 21. You have just got to accept that these restrictions are necessary and we learn to live and work with them.

"The things that we wanted to do like put solar panels on the roof we have had to postpone because the cash for that has been eaten up just keeping the place going.

"It has been a real community effort. During the shutdown, members of the bowling community have been coming in and painting the place. Everyone has pulled together.

"I could not ask for better customers and ultimately friends in many ways."
