THE turnout for Thursday's local elections was 37 per cent - it has been revealed.

Voting to decide a third of seats on Bradford Council, the first West Yorkshire Mayor, and a number of town and parish councils, took place yesterday.

The count for the Council elections will take place tomorrow, with the West Yorkshire Mayoral elections taking place on Sunday.

There are 372,539 eligible voters in the District.

On Thursday 139,261people cast their vote - 37.38 per cent of the electorate.

Of the votes, 67,632 were postal votes.

The highest turnout was in Ilkley, where 58 per cent of eligible voters went to the polls.

The lowest turnout was in the Tong ward, where just 26.62 per cent of voters cast their vote.

Results will be announced on the Telegraph & Argus website tomorrow.
