VIRGIN Media has connected 2,500 homes in Shelf to its ultrafast broadband network.

As part of its ‘Project Lightning’ network expansion, Virgin Media is rolling out its ultrafast broadband network across the UK, bringing average top speeds of more than 600Mbps to residents and small businesses.

Shelf is the latest area to benefit from the investment and local residents are set to benefit from Gig1 broadband offering speeds of more than 1,000Mbps as the firm rolls out next-generation gigabit connections to its entire network of 15 million homes by the end of 2021.

Hugh Woolford, Virgin Media's regional director for Yorkshire and the East Midlands, said: “Shelf residents can now experience this next generation connectivity for themselves, thanks to this expansion which has unlocked speeds 15 times faster than local average to over 2,500 premises.”
