MANNINGHAM Lane Turkish restaurant Nusret Shawarma has been named a semi-finalist in the British Kebab Awards 2021.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic the awards has exceeded all expectations and attracted the most ever entries in its nine-year history.

More than 350 entries have made it to the semi-final longlist – the most ever since the awards began in 2013 – and have a chance of winning an award at a ceremony at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel on October 26.

Over 1,200 guests, including Cabinet ministers and Shadow Cabinet members, usually attend the VIP-studded ceremony. Judges this year will include: Conservative Minister Nadhim Zahawi, Labour MP Carolyn Harris, Assistant General Secretary of Unite Steve Turner, SNP MP Angus Brendan MacNeil, Conservative MP David Warburton and David Galman from Galliard Homes.

The awards cover 18 different categories including 'Best Newcomer Restaurant' of which Bradford's Nusret Shawarma is a semi-finalist. The restaurant is up against 18 others from all across the UK vying to make it to the finals.
