A MAN has been jailed for more than five years for the “disgusting and wicked” sexual abuse of a child.

Nadeem Ahmed showed his victim pornography and offered to pay her to allow him to molest her, Bradford Crown Court heard today.

Ahmed, 43, who lived in Bradford but has been on remand in HMP Leeds for a year, pleaded guilty to four offences of sexual assault and a single count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

His victim labelled him “a sick, vile human being” in a “powerful and eloquent” statement read out to the court by prosecuting barrister David Toal.

Mr Toal said Ahmed had offered her money.

He told her she mustn’t tell anyone.

On one occasion, he recorded it taking place, Mr Toal said.

Ahmed showed the girl pornography, sent her an image of his penis and asked her to send him an indecent image of herself, the court was told.

After he was arrested, he told the police the abuse never happened and then made no comment when questioned.

The child said in her victim personal statement that she felt broken and destroyed.

Her sleep was disturbed and her schoolwork had suffered.

“I can never forget what you’ve done to me,” she said.

She went on: “I hate myself. I’m nobody. I’m just damaged goods,” and to label Ahmed: “a sick, vile human being.”

His barrister, Bunty Batra, said it required a degree of courage for Ahmed to admit his offending.

The offences happened after he had consumed alcohol and had begun contacting other women because his marriage was in trouble.

Mr Batra said he had now lost his wife and would be very isolated when he came out of prison.

Ahmed, who had no previous convictions, suffered with diabetes and asthma and had been in custody for a year during the coronavirus pandemic, the court heard.

Judge Jonathan Rose said Ahmed was a “deviant” who had made use of the child as a sexual object.

He offered her bribes and told her not to tell anyone, showed her pornography and sent her a picture of his penis.

“Your depravity knew no bounds,” Judge Rose said.

Ahmed’s remorse was “hedged with self-pity” and the judge doubted if he had real insight into the “wicked” things he had done.

Ahmed was jailed for a total of five years and three months.

Judge Rose made a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and Ahmed must sign on the sex of-fender register, both provisions without limit of time.
