POLICE forensics officers were combing a site last night after the grim discovery of a woman's body.

Officers were called to the scene, in the Myra Shay area of Barkerend, at around 9.20am yesterday morning following reports from worried members of the public.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the body of a female was found and enquiries into the exact circumstances remain ongoing.

The body was discovered on footpath near Bradford Moor Golf Club, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Yesterday a white forensics tent was erected around the scene and a larger area was taped off as white-suited forensics teams scoured the area. Police cars blocked all entries to the footpath.

The body was discovered on the path close to the golf course which is popular with local golfers. It was screened from golfers by trees.

According to unconfirmed reports the woman had suffered horrific burns.

It is understood that people witnessed the incident and tried to save the woman before emergency services arrived.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said a cordon remains in place and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.
