THE inquest of the teenager who drowned at the beauty spot Goit Stock waterfall in Cullingworth in March has opened.
Mohammad Abu Farhan, 14, died after drowning at the waterfall on March 30.
The teenager, who lived in Barkerend, was identified at the scene by his sister Salma Akhtar, Bradford Coroners Court heard this morning.
The inquest opening heard Abu had been at the waterfall, a popular beauty spot for walkers, with friends, when he entered the water.
He then went underwater and did not resurface. His friends called the emergency services, and paramedics and police attended the scene.
Abu was found by police divers who recovered his body, and paramedics announced life extinct shortly afterwards.
A post mortem examination has indicated his cause of death was due to drowning.
The full inquest hearing into Abu's death will take place on September 21.
