SIR - The recent events at Old Trafford prior to the Premiership match Manchester United v Liverpool, which caused the match to be postponed, have received extensive coverage in the national media.

The people taking part in the riot have been called 'fans'. They are not fans but simply thugs and hooligans looking to cause as much trouble and damage as possible just for the sake of it.

Why are they objecting to the way the club is being run from the top when the team is second in the Premiership table?

I hope that many of the culprits are caught on CCTV, taken to court and punished accordingly.
