A BRADFORD doctor says people in their 30s may get called for their Covid first vaccine by mid May From today, people aged 40 and over will receive a text message to say they will be invited for a Covid vaccine.

Dr Amir Khan says if the vaccination programme continues to go well, people in their late 30s will be offered the first vaccine over the next couple of weeks.

Speaking on today’s Good Morning Britain, Dr Amir said: “We saw earlier this week 42-44 were invited, that went really well, so we’re moving on to the next cohort. “We have vaccinated two third of the population, at least offered them one jab.

“If things continue to go well into the middle of May offering people in their late 30s their first vaccine.”

With people aged 42 to 44 having already been texted this week it means 2.5 million more people have been invited for their jab, it added.

The expansion of the vaccine rollout comes as the latest data showed an estimated 91.5 per cent of people aged 45 and over in England had received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine by April 25, and just over four-in-five aged 70 and over had been given both doses.
